My research takes an interdisciplinary cognitive anthropology perspective and uses a comparative research design to explore how children in Colombia and Finland learn and enact social hierarchies.
Funded by the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund (May 2020-Apr 2021).

My research project investigated the association between child work and cognitive development in children in poverty in Peru, and won the 2013 Selwyn-Clarke prize.

5th Grade Teacher
Taught 5th grade English and Social Sciences, and was a form tutor, at a private bilingual school.
Designed and delivered the curriculum according to Project Based Learning ideals.
Worked alongside a multicultural team to deliver teaching and pastoral care.
Led the 5th grade teachers and students in our first term using Project Based Learning techniques.

Regional Coordinator
Worked on a Ministry of Education programme to provide training and support for volunteers on teaching placements in Colombian public schools.
Primarily worked in Spanish.
Supported volunteer immersion by organising a language exchange and cultural trips.
Provided pedagogical support to schools.
Before promotion was a volunteer on the same programme (2016).
September 2014 - June 2015
Researcher in Genetic Epidemiology
Pre-doctoral research year at the University of Bristol.
Undertook three distinct research projects in epidemiology, collaborating with research groups from a range of disciplines.
Published one first-authored paper (B. J. Psych) and contributed to another paper (Am. J. Epi.).
Taught on a course in Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Pelotas, Brazil.
January 2014 - April 2015
Research Assistant
Provided remote research assistance for three literature reviews on the role of community participation in maternal and newborn health interventions.
Used Eppi-Reviewer software.
Worked independently to tight deadlines.
Collaborated with LSHTM and WHO staff throughout all the different stages of the reviews.
